Learning Bosnian for Kids Through Play: 5 Methods That Really Work 🎲
30.01.2026.

If a child doesn’t use Bosnian every day, “learning” can quickly feel like a chore and motivation drops fast.
That’s why we build our online Bosnian course for kids around play: children speak more, remember faster, and feel more confident using the language.

“Leti, leti”, “Word Association”, “Starting with a Letter”, “Word Search”… are just some of the games we regularly play with children in our Bosnian course. Our online course is based on a learn-through-play methodology that sparks curiosity, speaking, and a love for the language. Every activity has a clear goal, but it’s presented as fun, not as a school task.

Below are 5 ways we learn through play.

1) Learning Through Pictures

What we do: Children name objects, animals, and concepts they see on the screen. Step by step, they move from single words to short sentences.
Why it works: The child learns words in context, not by rote, which makes them easier to remember and use in speech.
At home (2 minutes): “Find 3 things in the room and say: This is… / These are…”

2) Role-Play Games

What we do: Through short role-play activities, children act out everyday situations: family conversations, shopping, or meeting new friends.
Why it works: The child naturally “switches” Bosnian into real-life situations without pressure to be perfect.
At home (2 minutes): “You’re the shopkeeper, I’m the customer” (3 questions and 3 answers in Bosnian).

3) Building Sentences and Stories Together

What we do: Children complete started sentences or add their part to a story (“and then it happened…”).
Why it works: Sentence structure and basic grammar come in “along the way” through use without memorizing rules.
At home (2 minutes): Start a sentence: “Today I…” – the child finishes it with 5–7 words.

4) Songs and Movement

What we do: Through songs, rhythmic repetition, and simple movements, children remember words more easily and improve pronunciation.
Why it works: Rhythmic repetition creates a sense of safety – children relax and speaking comes more naturally.
At home (2 minutes): One short song + three words the child repeats in a sentence.

5) Language Games and Mini Challenges

What we do: “Word Association”, “Starting with a Letter”, guessing words, and fast Q&A games.
Why it works: Children have to quickly pull words from memory – so vocabulary becomes “alive” and speech more fluent.
At home (2 minutes): Choose a letter (e.g., M): “Say 3 words starting with M” + one sentence using one of them.
